Frankie Marie Newton, 70, of South Chesterfield, VA passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021. Born in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Umberto and Odell Pridgen; and was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Roger Paul Newton, Sr.; and a son, Roger “R.P.” Newton, Jr. Mrs. Newton had retired from the Chesterfield County Public School System as a special education bus driver after 32 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed sewing, going thrift shopping, going to the beach, helping others, watching old western shows and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Newton will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend to others. She is survived by her three daughters, Denise Hairfield and husband, Charles, Lelia Mills and husband, Clifford and Sherry Newton; seven grandchildren, Emily Hairfield, Nicholas Mills, Elliot Mills, Edward Ian Hairfield, Emma Newton, Collin Mills and Isabel Newton; brother, David Pridgen and wife, Linda; sister, Clara Moran; loving companion, Fred Ekstrom; and her four legged friend, Tubba. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Oaklawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Williams, officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
