Franklin D. Roosevelt Boyd, 69, of Dinwiddie County, died Friday, July 2, 2004 at his residence. A native of Crewe, VA, he was the son of the late Henry Edward and Maude Moore Boyd. He was a retired employee of the Seaboard Coastline Railroad and Chairman of the the local Carmens Union in Petersburg. During his retirement, he devoted much of his time to helping the elderly which, in 1997, earned him the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award given by Zone I of the Appomattox District of Ruritan National. He was a long-time active member of Smyrna Baptist Church where he was an ordained Deacon and served on various committees. Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by two brothers, Dalphus Boyd and Wallace E. Boyd and three sisters, Hellen Bowen, Catherine Sorrels, and Ruth Evans. He is survived by his wife, Patricia B. Boyd; a son, Franklin Kenneth Boyd; two daughters, Karen Lynn Seeley and Kelly Boyd Harris and husband, John; four grandchildren, Jordan Seeley, Luke, Faith, and Jonah Harris; and two brothers, Shirley E. Boyd of MA and James M. Boyd of Midlothian. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 5, at Smyrna Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Rowland, pastor, and the Rev. R. Roland Powell, officiating. Interment will follow at Asbury Memorial Cemetery, McKenney. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T.
