Franklin Eugene Burkey

Franklin Eugene Burkey, 83, of Chester, VA, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013. Born in Parkersburg, WVA, he was the son of the late Bennie Eugene Burkey and Lila Gatrell Casto. Mr. Burkey was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired employee of Hercules, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Goff Burkey; children, Cheryl Burkey Umbel and husband, Tom, Mark E. Burkey and wife, Marcia, and Laura Burkey Rook and husband, Wade; grandchildren, Jared Burkey, Erin Owens, Seth Burkey, Ben Umbel, Kelly Dorrance, Caleb Rook, and Bryce Rook, and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3rd at the Chester Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park.
