Franklin Delano Moneymaker, 90, of Hopewell, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Franklin was the son of Joseph A. and Lena Moneymaker. Frank was born on April 9, 1933, in Alleghany, Virginia.
Frank served in the US Navy as a young man where he learned his boxing skills which he would use later in life to become a Golden Glove Champion. He was a member of The Calvary Four Quartet and his part was the baritone. He lived many years in Hopewell while working for Hercules Inc. and running his business F&M Electric. In Deltaville, Virginia, his home away from home, he was referred to as the "Fishing Electrician". Frank was known for being a hard worker, in his down time he enjoyed spending time with family/friends, watching football, fishing, grilling, and dancing at the Moose Lodge where he first met his bride of 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia "Jena" Jones and Sue Gotte; his brothers, Joe, Clarence "Skimp", Tom, Bailey, Roy, and Lewis Moneymaker; son, Franklin Eugene Moneymaker; grandsons, Damien Moneymaker, Dustin Fisher, and Franklin Moneymaker III "TREY".
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Joyce Moneymaker; daughters, Peggy Simon (Mark), Anita Graham (David), Robin Kegley (Jim), Melanie Galderise (David), and Denise Showalter; sons, Franklin Moneymaker, Jr. (Rikki) and Jerry Potter (Lisa); twenty grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his caregivers, Brenda Santiago-Townsend, AnnaMae Weidner, and Alyssa Newell.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at J.T. Morriss & Son - Hopewell Chapel, at 820 W. Broadway Ave, Hopewell, Virginia. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with a procession to Bermuda Memorial Park, 1901 Bermuda Hundred Rd, Chester, Virginia. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Frank Moneymaker, to the ALS Association MD/DC/VA Chapter.
