Franklin Ervin Smith, age 78, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 and lived in Dinwiddie, Virginia.
Preceding him in rest was his mother, Glesma Ray Smith; and father, Aubrey Franklin Smith.
Surviving members of his family include his wife, Zelma Kay Smith, of Dinwiddie, Virginia; daughter, Shari Morris and husband, Mike, of Prince George, Virginia; son, Chad Smith and wife, Mariah, of Richmond, Virginia; daughter, Robin Manus and husband, Bryon, of Waxhaw, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jeffrey Morris and wife, Jisun, of Hopewell, Virginia, Chandler Smith of Richmond, Virginia, Campbell Smith of Richmond, Virginia, Jordan Manus and wife, Holly, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, and Hunter Manus of Monroe, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Whitney Morris of Hopewell, Virginia and Audrey Manus of Waxhaw, North Carolina; aunt, Barber Walker and husband, Arnold, of Yorktown, Virginia; cousins, Glenda Hundley of Sterling, Virginia, Elizabeth Weaver and husband, Jeff, of Mattawa, Michigan, Arnold Walker Jr. of Yorktown, Virginia, John A. Winstead of Alexandria, Virginia, and Faye Bone and husband, Roy, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; and many good friends that he loved. He never met a stranger!
Frank was an active member of West End Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, a church which he loved deeply.
He retired from Dupont Spruance Plant, where he had been an electrician for 40 years. Then, he started doing woodwork and built beautiful furniture and other buildings at home and for others that wanted something. He accomplished everything he set out to do.
He was an avid fisherman and his favorite place was his home on Hillard Mill Pond in Urbanna, Virginia that he loved and grew up on.
He was a member of the Petersburg Eagle #882 and American Legion in Hopewell.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 10-11 AM at West End Baptist Church, 6506 Boydton Plank Road, where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West End Baptist Church.
