Fred Earl Ramsch, Sr., 72, a lifelong resident of Sussex County, died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at his home. Born on May 28, 1934, he was the son of the late Clyde Earl Ramsch and Virgie Bulls Ramsch. Fred retired as the operator of Spencer Brothers Service Station after 20 years of service, and was a farmer. He was a member of the Waverly United Methodist Church. Fred was a respected member of the Waverly Community and a loving family man with a mischievous sense of humor.
Fred is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marjorie R. Ramsch; son, Fred E. Ramsch, Jr. of Waverly; daughter, Connie Ramsch of White Sulphur Springs, WV; two granddaughters, Joanna Lawhon and Angie Brown; five great-grandchildren; half-brother, Daniel Ramsch of Glenville, WV; four sisters-in-law; and his aunt, Nell Corl of Waverly.
Funeral services will be held at Waverly United Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Connie Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in the High Hills Baptist Church Cemetery, Jarratt. The family will receive friends at the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Homes, Wakefield, on Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Waverly Vol. Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 583, Waverly, VA 23890, or the Waverly United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 87, Waverly, VA 23890. The Purviance Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
