Freda P. Andrew

Mrs. Freda (Aphrodite) P. Andrew, a resident of Hopewell, VA, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2017. Born on March 17, 1927 in Burlington, VT, she was the daughter of Catina and Louis Palans. Mrs. Andrew was the loving sister of Celia Kasmeotes and Gus Palans, and adored by her many cousins.

Miss Freda Palans married Dr. Theodore C. Andrew in 1955. She managed her husband's private practice of medicine and surgery in the Medical Arts Building on Hopewell Street. As an active member of the Nathaniel Cawsey Garden Club, Mrs. Andrew enjoyed sharing her creativity and outdoor enthusiasm. In her younger days, she was an active athlete, playing tennis, skiing, ice skating and swimming.

Mrs. Andrew was the loving mother of Penelope T. Andrew. She is survived by her devoted son, Dr. Constantine T. Andrew and his wife, Susan. As a proud Yiayia, she is also survived by her grandchildren, Leia and Theodore.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church, 107 Memorial Ave, Hopewell, VA 23860. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery.
