Frederick Wayne Ratliff

Frederick Wayne “Fred” Ratliff, 76, of Chester, VA passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. Fred and Louise Ratliff; and his first wife, Shelby Ratliff. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Ratliff; son, Richard Ratliff and wife Daphne; daughter, Patricia Christian and husband Mark; grandchildren, Monica Ratliff and husband Robert; Clay Christian, and Marie Christian; great grandchildren, Layne and Jacob Ratliff, Bristol Christian; a sister, Sandra Corner nieces, Lisa Corner and Sonya Whitfield, and numerous extended family and friends. Mr. Ratliff was a retired Army Master Sergeant. He served all over the world, including the Korean War and two tours of duty in Vietnam, in a career spanning almost 30 years. After retiring from the Army, Fred continued to serve his country for another 22 years at DLA Richmond (Defense Supply Center Richmond) until he retired in 2007. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, VA 23831. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Ivan Perkinson, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
