Frederick John Smith

Frederick John Smith, 85, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away at his home on Monday, February 24, 2025. Born in the State of Washington, he was the son of the late Frederick Albert Smith and Dorothy Nelms.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith; his children, Freddie John, Richard Smith (JoAnne), Samantha Jongsma (Bill), Stephen Fink, Kendra Epstein (Mark), and Nick Fletcher; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Fred loved reading and watching Science Fiction, and was an avid HAM Radio Operator. He served our country for over 25 years in the U.S. Air Force. After his retirement, he then worked for the government for over 30 years as a Database Administrator. Fred will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends.

A private graveside service will be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Fred's name to Crater Community Hospice.
