Garland Clyde Dance, 84, of N. Chesterfield, VA., passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon G. Dance and Beulah N. Dance; his loving wife of 58 years, Carol C. Dance; and his sister, Bernice Stallings. Garland is survived by his daughter, Darlene Robinson; son, Donnie Dance; daughter, Denise Waff (Eric); grandchildren, Heather, Megan, Brittany, Dylan, Danielle, Hunter and Easton; four great-grandchildren; brother, Vernon “Buck” Dance (Barbara); as well as numerous extended family and friends. After serving his country in the United States Navy, Garland married Carol in 1963 and became a devoted husband and father. Garland faithfully provided for his family with 30 years of employment at American Tobacco Company. During that time, he also managed the on-site credit union and mentored countless high school students though the cooperative education program with the Chesterfield Technical Center. Following his retirement, Garland enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and dragging Carol to every Civil War battlefield within driving distance. He relished weekends spent at JMU watching football games with Denise and visiting with all his bonus daughters. In his later years, he shared visitation of his beloved granddog, Lucy, whose loyalty undoubtedly added years to both their lives. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Garland's caregivers, Laura, Juanita, and Alicia. Although he will be greatly missed, there is comfort in knowing he is reunited with his bride. The family will receive friends, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2021 at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home Chester Chapel, VA.
