Garland Elmo Eavey, 91, a former resident of Hopewell died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in Mesa, Az. He was born in Dayton, Va. Mr. Eavey served in the US Army during World War II and was a retired supervisor with Stone Container. He was the son of the late Paul M. and Libby Whitmer Eavey. Surviving are his daughter, Ellen E. Klooz of Holly Springs, NC and a son, Garland E. Eavey, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, a brother, Wiley Eavey of Hopewell and three sisters, Jacqueline Stover of Chesterfield County, Marian LaRivere of Ludlow, Mass. and Geraldline Mifka of Louisa, VA. A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 26, 2008 at 3 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with Mural Worthy of the Cawson Street Church of Christ officiating.
