HUDSON, GARLAND WAYNE of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on May 9, 2014. He was born on January 28, 1938 in Hopewell, VA, to Lawrence Alfred and Clara Hendricks Hudson.
Garland received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Georgia Tech in Industrial Engineering and Management. He worked in the aerospace industry in Marietta, GA, Huntsville, AL, and Fort Worth, TX, before working and retiring from the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Center at Fort Lee, VA.
Garland was an avid golfer, bridge player and reader; he loved snow skiing and sunset watching on Snowshoe mountain, and traveling with his beloved wife throughout the world. Garland will be greatly missed and greatly remembered by all the lives he touched.
Garland leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Beverly (Bev); sister Patricia (Patty/Tricia) of Richmond, VA; son Gregory Hudson and wife Carol of Glen Allen, VA; daughter Lisa Shumate and partner Sheri Smith of Charlotte, NC; son Eric Mayes and wife Patricia of Williamsburg, VA; daughter Stephanie Gruss and partner Aaron Blay of Decatur, GA; and grandchildren Heather and Tyler Hudson of Glen Allen, Helena Gruss of Decatur, and Zoe and Sophia Mayes of Williamsburg.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Monday, May 12, at J. T. Morris and Sons Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA. The service will immediately follow the visitation at the same location. Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA.
