Garland Lee Raney, Jr., 72, of Hopewell died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Buckeye, AZ and had been a long time resident of Prince George & Hopewell. Mr. Raney retired from Allied Chemical after 41 years of dedicated service. He was a lifetime member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, an avid fisherman and dearly loved his family. Mr. Raney was preceded in death by his parents, Isom and Libbie Rozell Raney and a brother, Marvin Raney. He is survived by his wife, Joan Dalton Raney, a son Garland â??Buddyâ? Raney and his wife Linda, all of Hopwell, a daughter, Patty Grigg and her husband Bubba of Prince George, five grandchildren, Marcus, Kristen & Corbin Raney, Taylor and Carley Grigg, three sisters, Jean Heath of Dinwiddie, Linda Robison and husband Dean of Missouri City, TX, Ruth Ann Medlock and husband Andy of Hubert, NC, a brother, Tom Lynch of Houston, TX and his mother-in-law, Virginia Ray of Hopewell. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 22, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 24, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ken Hendricks, pastor of Woodlawn Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George County.
