Garland Turner

Garland L. Turner Sr., 77, of Chesterfield passed away on December 3, 2010. Mr. Turner was born in Chesterfield on September 23, 1933 to the late Robert L. and Della Heacock Turner, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann Johnson Turner. Mr. Turner was a United States Army veteran, and an employee of Allied Chemical for more than 40 years. He was an avid photographer and loved bowling, especially at Holiday Bowl, and coached baseball with Salem Church Athletic Association. He is survived by his five children, Garland L. â??Linâ? Turner Jr., Gregory L. Turner, Kathryn T. Hodge and husband Alan, Geoffrey Lyle Turner and wife Diana, Gary L. Turner; four grandchildren, Geoffrey Turner, Zachary Davis, Madison Hodge, Amanda Legere; five siblings, Robert Turner, Mildred Paulette, Evelyn Kidd, Rose Turner, Lloyd â??Butchâ? Turner; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, December 6 at Second Branch Baptist Church, 12217 Second Branch Rd., Chesterfield Va. 23838, with the Rev. Steve Vaughan officiating. Interment will be in the Wilson Family Cemetery.
