Gary Iven Brooks

Gary Iven Brooks, beloved father, grandfather, brother, mentor, leader, employee, and friend to so many, left us peacefully too soon on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. Gary was born and raised in the Staunton/Waynesboro area on June 10, 1953. Gary worked for Brown & Root for 45 years and has an amazing work family that he loved dearly as well.

Gary is survived by his children, Carissa Brooks (Stuart Cox) and Jeremy Gay. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Kayleigh Allen, Landon Allen, Dalilah Allen, Graiden Allen, Vada Gay, Alyson Cox, and Oliver McDorman. Additional grandchildren from his treasured marriage to Sherry Brooks include, Jeremiah Davis, Rhyann Walker, Braylen Bowles, Hunter Litchfield, Sephora Litchfield, Rayden Litchfield, and Liam Ward. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Giacometti (Randy) and Kathie Wade; stepdaughter, Mary Beggs (Jason); stepsons, Jason Beggs and Ronnie Litchfield. Gary also had many special cousins whom he loved very much.

Gary will be remembered as being kind, intelligent, vibrant, hilarious, and a loving soul who will be missed by so many. We were all blessed to have known him and be a part of his life. Gary was a member of many clubs and organizations and very much enjoyed volunteering his time in the service of others.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831.
