Gary Gene Everts

After a short and courageous battle with Leukemia, Gary G. Everts, 75, won the war and went to be with our Lord and Savior in Heaven, Saturday, March 10, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Dutrow and sister, Sharon Dodson.
Shortly after high school he joined the United States Army, where he proudly served his country for 23 years with his wife, Carole by his side. They were stationed many places; stateside and overseas during his years of service, where had risen to the rank of MSG. Gary and Carole then built their home in Chester and he gave 17 years to the United States Postal Service in the Colonial Heights Branch. Gary was a member of the Letter Carrier Association and the American Legion Post 146 Hopewell, VA.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carole Wicker Everts; daughter, Alisa Everts Porter and husband, Gary Porter of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Jude Porter and Nathaniel Porter; MSGTC Sam Clark USMC, who he proudly called his son, and his wife, Sandi Clark; niece, Stephanie Dodson; nephew, Rob Dodson; brothers, Robert Dutrow and Jacob Dutrow.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 502 W. Broadway Hopewell, VA., with a visitation to follow.
