Gary Claiborne Hicks

Gary C. Hicks, 59, son of Sam and Teressa P. Hicks, passed away on January 9, 2024. He is predeceased by his father; his brother, Glen L. Hicks; his sister, Brenda C.; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mother; his daughter, Michele and her husband, Rick; three grandchildren, Liam, Lola, and Lucy Stender; his life partner, Martina Schyma; and his best friends, Leonard Kloske and Eugene Aguilar, as well as their families, of which there are too many to name. He is also survived by his two beloved Corgis, Porkchop and Noodles. Gary had a strong love of animals and a love of the outdoors. He went from being a maintenance man to a farmer, working a hard and humble life off the land. A service will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will follow directly after. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Dinwiddie County Animal Shelter at 10903 Wheelers Pond Rd, Dinwiddie, VA 23841.
