Gary Wayne Moore

Gary Wayne Moore, Sr., 65, of DeWitt, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016. Born in West Virginia, he was the son of the late James Theodore Moore and Hazel Mae Cody Moore. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Moore, Jr. In his free time, Gary enjoyed operating equipment. He was known to put others before himself and loved helping people in need. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Moore; children, Gary Moore, Jr., Jenny Thomas (Walden), Tammy Edwards (Chad), and Cody Moore; step-children, Joseph, Angela, and Marcus Blackmon; grandchildren, Swayde and Hayley Thomas, Riley and Logan Moore, Eric, Kyle, and Summer Edwards, Brandi Blackmon, Jeremy Claxton, Deonte Goodwyn, Dedrick Vaughan, Kendrick Tiller, and Daniel Blackmon; great-grandchildren, Gracey and Nyte Thomas; siblings, Rose Holtsclaw, Carol Brown, Russell Moore, Charles Moore, Tommy Moore, Susie Smith, Sharon Moore, David Moore, Debbie Sears, and Penny Begley. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Moore’s Family Cemetery, 16604 Glebe Rd. DeWitt, VA 23840.
