Gary Keith Schuller

August 26, 1943 — January 23, 2021

Gary Keith Schuller, 77, of Prince George, Va., died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Francis and Elizabeth Killian Schuller. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a lifelong public servant with over 40 years of combined active duty military and federal civil service. He enlisted in the Army at age 18, retired as a master sergeant in 1983 and retired from civil service as a program manager in 2005. He was an active member with the American Legion, J. Thompson Wyatt Post 2; Legion Riders Post 2; 40&8; Fraternal Order of Eagles 882; and Cockade Alley Bourbon Tasting Society. He enjoyed golfing, motorcycle riding, traveling the world, reading, and sitting and watching sunsets. He was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Mary Jane; and his son, Scott Gant. He is survived by his children: Diana Hughes (Mark); Cathy Hopkins (Tony); Debbie Bowles, (Mike, deceased); Greg, and Michael (Suzanne); 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The service will be live streamed from the funeral home’s website. In accordance with the CDC guidelines, masks are required. Interment will be private at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feeding America or FeedMore. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
