Gene Carleton Layne Sr.

Gene Carleton Layne, Sr., 82, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Cortez and Margaret Layne; wife, Judith Noble Layne; and three brothers. He attended John Marshall High School and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was also a mason for many years. He is survived by his son, Gene C. Layne, Jr. and wife, Stacy; five grandchildren, Candie, Amanda, Brandon, Josh and Reagan; five great-grandchildren; six nieces and one nephew. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
