Ramsey, Geneva Swack, (82), passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 18th. Geneva and husband, Al Ramsey were the longtime owners of The Dixie Restaurant in Olde Towne Petersburg. In addition, Geneva worked tirelessly to help her husband with USSSA softball, The Cavalier Athletic Club, and Boy Scout Troop 175. Geneva and her 4 siblings grew up on a farm in the mountains near Cookeville, Tennessee. Her parents were Perry and Onie Swack. In her youth, she was an avid bowler and tennis player. In later years she loved both cooking and reading. She met Al while attending Tennessee Tech. They moved to his hometown, Petersburg, in 1951 to raise their family. They were lifetime members of Petersburg's Second Presbyterian Church. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edgar Allan Ramsey, III. Their children are Brenda Cosby (Bill), Terry Ramsey (Billye), and Michael Ramsey (Chana). Geneva's grandchildren were the apple of her eye. They are Heather, Courtney, Kate, April and Will. Also step grandchildren, Dena, Jason, Valerie and Ashley. "Granny" was blessed with 16 great-grand children. The family would like to thank friend Sue Harkins for her loving care over these last years. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 24 at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with The Reverend Dr. Daniel Hale officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery.
