Genevieve M. Quipp Smithers, formerly of Petersburg, VA (Waukegan, IL) passed away August 10, 2022 in North Richland Hills, TX at the age of 99. Born January 10, 1923 in Spooner, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mona Quipp.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul McEwen, of Waukegan, IL; her late husband, Rick Rickman; step-daughter, Wilda Rolly; late husband, Albert Smithers; grandson, Jeffrey Zudonyi; and 9 siblings.
She was a life member of VFW Aux. #622 Petersburg, VA. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Moose and belonged to Kenwood United Methodist Church before moving to Texas. She was a self-employed licensed beautician. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and making quilts, crocheting, and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her three daughters, Paula St Clair, of Kingwood, West VA, Darlene Heiser (Ronald), of N. Richland Hills, TX, and Kathryn McEwen, of Hopewell, VA; six grandchildren, Michael Schenk, of Kingwood, VA, Jamie Heiser, of N. Richland Hills, TX,
Matthew Heiser (Toni), of Lake Villa, IL, Jennifer Wagner (Michael), of Hopewell, VA, David Zudonyi, of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, and Candice Sutton (Steve), of East Dundee, IL; five great-grandchildren, Ryan Schenk, of Austin, TX, Lani and Rilee Heiser, of Lake Villa, IL, Hannah and Ryan Sutton, of East Dundee, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
