George Bennett

George S. Bennett, 87, of Church Road died at his residence on Thursday September 8, 2005.Mr. Bennett was born in Reidsville, NC the son of the late Thomas Scott Bennett and Marion Stanfield Bennett. A retired farmer, he moved to this area in 1937 at which time he joined Central Baptist Church and spent most of his life tilling the land. He is survived by his wife, Inez C. Bennett, one son George S. (Jack) Bennett and his wife Barbara of Church Road, two daughters; Jill B. Clay and her husband Don of Petersburg, Anne B. Thornton and her husband Roy of Coats, NC, 9 grandchildren; Ricky Bennett, Bobby Bowman, David Bowman, Laurie Netherland, Kim Salama, Kelley Frakes, Jenney Walters, Rhonda Williams and Steven Thornton; 11 great-grandchildren and three sisters; Mary Beth Hawkes of Wilson, Bea Wilkerson of Petersburg and Dot Fallin of Ford. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, September 10th at 3:30 PM in Central Baptist Church with his pastor Rev. Thomas H. Collins officiating. The interment will take place on Monday, September 12th at 9 AM in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence anytime and at the church following the funeral service.
