George Colin Campbell Jr.

George C. Campbell, Jr., 80, of Sutherland, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Born in Prince George County, he was the son of the late George C. Campbell, Sr. and Lula Gertrude Creasy Campbell. He was also preceded in death by a son, Todd Wade Campbell; siblings, Nancy C. Campbell, William S. Campbell, Sr., David Campbell, Francis Campbell, and Susan Petrick.
He is survived by his wife, Vida Wikel Campbell; daughter, Kimberly Lee Campbell; sisters, Edna C. May and Deborah Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
George Campbell, Jr. proudly served his county in the U.S. Airforce for 7 years and 3 months. He went on to work for Philip Morris as an electrician, retiring after 27 years and 10 months. He loved his Lord and Savior. He enjoyed being active in church, serving as a Deacon and teaching Sunday school to youth and senior men. George went on 13 World Changer mission trips. He also served in Nursing Home Ministry, teaching the bible for 14 years. One thing in particular that he was talented at was wood working. He helped with Elder Homes in Petersburg and Oakland Baptist Ramp Ministry. He loved gardening, flowers, and most of all, his family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021 at Oakland Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
