George J. Fried, Sr., 85, of Prince George County, passed away Monday, February 27, 2006. Born in Dinwiddie County, he was the son of the late Leopold J. and Mary Brynda Fried. Mr. Fried was a WWII veteran serving in the U. S. Army Air Corps. He was a life-member of V.F.W. Post 10571, Prince George County, where he served as Quartermaster from 1982 ? 2000. He was also a member of Post 637, Hopewell. Mr. Fried was preceded in death by his wife Libby Basl Fried and a son, Leopold Fried. He is survived by his daughters, Pauline Fried and Libby Terrazas and husband, Joe; son, George J. Fried, Jr. and wife Mickey; granddaughters, Becky Fried and Krissy Fried all of Prince George; brother, Albert Fried; sister, Mary Stech both of Dinwiddie; his devoted companion, Mary Schrum and her family of Petersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Christian Wake will be held at 6 PM Wednesday, March 1 at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends following the service. A Mass of the Resurrection will be recited at 11 AM Thursday at the Church of the Sacred Heart, New Bohemia with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
