George Luther Pearson

George Luther Pearson, 79, of Hopewell, VA, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell M. Pearson, Sr. and Anne Holt McCullar; his loving wife of over 50 years, Barbara Sears Pearson; brother, Joseph Pearson; and his aunt, Rosa Mae Gupton, who he lived with as a boy. He is survived by his daughters, Jina Pearson, MaeLyn Cone and husband, Bobby, Jo Ann Hernandez and husband, Jorge, Marsha Pearson, and Rachel Parson and husband, John; grandchildren, Natasha Wheeler, Amanda Longberger, Katherine Hernandez, Gabriela Hernandez, Bryant Cone, and Landon Chalky; brothers, Russell Pearson, Michael Pearson, Robert Fowlkes, and Ira Fowlkes; sisters, Carolyn Strickland, Donna Fowlkes, and Carol Wolfe; special son, Cowan Chalky; personal caregiver, Junior Couto; as well as numerous extended family and friends. George was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Colonial Heights for over 50 years. He was affiliated with Atlantic Baptist Bible College and helped with the Hopewell Food Bank for over 5 years. The family will receive friends Friday, July 14, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 17001 Route 1, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the church. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of George can be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund or The One More program at Open Door Baptist Church, 754 Germanna Hwy, Culpeper, VA 22701.
