George Thomas Rickman, Jr, 54, passed away peacefully on May 5th,2009. Born and raised in Hopewell, Virginia, Tommy was the eldest son of the late George Thomas Rickman, Sr, and Helen Temple Rickman. He leaves to mourn his loss a sister and brother- in-law, Trudy Lynn Rickman and Charles Elwood Dean, Jr, of Richmond, Virginia and a brother and sister-in-law, Paul Timothy Rickman and Julia Cleveland Rickman, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Tommy was a generous uncle to his nephew, Benjamin Thomas Rickman, and his niece, Sarah Jordan Rickman of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and to Virginia Temple Dean, of Richmond, Virginia. Through his generosity their education will be one last gift from him.
Tommy retired from the Allied-Signal Corporation (Honeywell) after 30 years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church, Hopewell. The friendships cultivated there, in addition to dedicated family members brought him much love and needed support. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 8th, 2009, in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son funeral home at 3:30 PM with the Reverend Jeffrey Raymond, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery.
