George Schmeltzer

Schmeltzer, George W. (Pappy), age 76, went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2010, after a long battle with heart disease. He was born and raised in Altoona, PA. He served our country in the Army from 1954 â?? 1958. He was stationed in Germany for 3 years. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Schmeltzer; four children, Thomas Schmeltzer (Louise), of Durham, NC; Patricia Schmeltzer of Altoona, PA; Debra Bates (Mike), of Richmond, VA; Ronald Schmeltzer, of Berwick, PA and stepson, Dale Huston (Nanette), of Harrisburg, PA. He had 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by former wife, Brenda Weatherford. The family will receive friends at the Chester chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, January 21 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Friday, January 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Beulah United Methodist Church in Richmond, VA. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Virginia or Beulah United Methodist Church.
