George Louis Vlkojan, Sr., 90, of Disputanta, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Born in Prince George County, he was the son of the late Charles Vlkojan, Sr. and Victoria Mentlik Vlkojan. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, George L. Vlkojan, Jr.; grandsons, Karl Vlkojan and Richard Marquart II.; 5 siblings; and long-time canine companion, Pete.
He is survived by his children, Pauline Adcock (Fred), Ginny Gunn (Beryl), Janis Minor (Bernard), and Eddie Vlkojan; grandchildren, George Vlkojan III., Matthew Vlkojan, Joanne Catlett, Kelly Allin, Amanda Ceppi, Jennifer Bartholomew, April O’Dett, Bernard Minor, Jr., Amanda Gunn, Krystal Bitwa, and J.C. Squires; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ben Vlkojan (Edna); and daughter-in-law, Dana Vlkojan.
George L. Vlkojan, Sr. was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. He went on to work for Allied Chemical as a Field Machinist, retiring after many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, playing softball, going fishing, and spending time at his cottage in Avon, NC. He loved his family and will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 1-hour prior from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Church of the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
