Georgia Newhouse Zazworsky , 74, a resident of Waverly died Friday April 25, 2008 at Nansemond Point Nursing Home, Suffolk. Born on May 7, 1933 in Maryland, she was daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie Paugh Newhouse. She had retired as a sales clerk at Tri-County Dry Cleaners of Waverly and was a member of the Burtonâ??s Grove United Church of Christ, Wakefield, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Petersburg. Georgia always had a smile on her face and in spite of many hardships in her life, she never complained. She devoted her life to helping people especially as a volunteer with the Waverly Rescue Squad where she served for over 20 years.
Georgia is survived by four daughters; Emily Pritchett and husband Donald of Lakeland FL, Frances Harrell and husband Larry of Waverly, Mary Strickland and husband Barry of Pembroke Pine, FL, and Ann Sheffield and husband Todd also of Waverly; three sisters, Rosalee Patterson and Margaret Brown, of Ohio and Mary Dill of Oregon, two brothers, Joseph Newhouse, Jr. of FL and Stephen Newhouse of Providence Forge, VA, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a half-sister, Marion Weaver of FL and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Emil Zazworsky, a son William J. Zazworsky. a sister Cecilia Newhouse, a brother Johnny Newhouse, a half-sister, Lillian Dillon and a half-brother, Henry McKenize
Funeral service will be held Monday, April 28, at 11:00 at Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Joy Heaton officiating. Burial will follow in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Purviance Chapel, Sunday evening, 6:00 -8:00 p.m. and at other times at the residence, 256 Beaverdam Rd. Waverly, VA. Memorial donations may be made to Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 583, Waverly, VA or the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216. Purviance Chapel, J. T.
