Gerald Nathan Prosise

August 29, 1948 — January 31, 2021

Gerald “Gerry” Nathan Prosise was born August 29, 1948 in East ST Louis, Illinois to Chester and Eileen Elizabeth (Royer) Prosise. Gerry served his country honorably and fought bravely in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army under Company B, 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, in the 25th Infantry Division. Upon being honorably discharged, Gerry worked several jobs in his early years such as working at the railroad, boys’ home, steel mill, and John Deer. He then settled in for a long career with the Government for 32 ½ years supporting commissary systems in both the U.S. and Germany before retiring in 2005. After retirement, Gerry continued working for several years with DieBold until the time of his death. Gerry mentored to both family and friends. He was a man full of passion. Gerry had many passions to include shooting, hunting, guns, bow & arrow, life, exploration, friends, politics, music, long drives, his fur babies, and most notably family. One of his favorite parts of DieBold work was the long drives to different service locations. He found comfort and relaxation in long drives with music bumping and foot tapping. Gerry’s cheeks would light up at any opportunity to share stories about his family. He loved to share stories from being “tricked” into playing checkers with his grandson, teaching his great-grandson the proper way to shoot a bow, the story “coke machine around the corner”, to how deep his love was for his wife and the growth and power that love holds. Gerry was preceded in death by his father, Chester Prosise; mother, Eileen (Royer) Prosise; and sister, Cheryle (Prosise) Strawn. Gerry was survived by his beautiful wife of 39 years, Janice (Duniphan) Prosise; daughter Amy (Prosise) Nugent and her husband, Robert; son, Geremy Prosise; 3 granddaughters, Ashley (Nugent) Collins and her husband, Steven, Cortney Nugent, and Lacy Nugent; 3 grandsons, Ryan Nugent, Jedikiah Prosise, and Loke Grottling; 2 great-granddaughters, Everleigh Collins and Vienna Nugent; 2 great-grandsons, Landon Kezar and Caspian Collins; as well as his beloved niece, Sherri (Strawn) Johnson and numerous extended family members. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please honor Gerry by taking a moment of silence and consider your life, is there anyone you need to reconcile with, do you know Jesus. Reconcile your life before it is too late. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
