Gerald E. Sechrest

November 27, 1932 — March 18, 2025

Gerald E. Sechrest (known to all as "Jerry Sechrest") Age 92, of Prince George County, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on March 18th, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jean Sechrest; his parents, Ed and Elaine Sechrest; his brother, Donnie Sechrest; and his first grandchild, Ashley P. Daniels.

He is survived by his four children, Sharon Golden (Bob), Kim Fleming (Roy), Scott Sechrest, and Dawn Jordan; six grandchildren, Justin Sechrest, Jeannie Sechrest, Kallie Wray (Michael) Lindsey Anderson (Lee), Chelsie Williamson (Branden), and Kortney Jordan; three step-grandchildren, Troy Golden, Christina Stagg, and RJ Fleming; and three great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Ilah and Oliver; and one on the way any day now, Noah.

Jerry was a 1950 graduate of Dinwiddie High, served in the US Army, and worked as a Supervisor at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company in Petersburg, Virginia, until they closed the doors in 1985 and relocated to Louisville Kentucky. He continued doing merchandising jobs for Phillip Morris until his retirement. He loved life and enjoyed talking and joking with people. In fact, there weren't many places he could go without someone seeing him and hollering out "Jerry Sechrest," at which time dad would start talking to them for several minutes or hours.

As far as a husband and father he was determined, strong willed, caring, loving and worked hard to provide all he could for his family. Dad you will forever be missed.

On behalf of dad, I would like to thank all of the many caregivers from the bottom of his heart for their time, patience, and understanding, and mostly for treating dad with dignity and respect. Especially these caregivers that will forever have a special place in his heart, Rose Fleming, Brenda Sprouse, Kieana Taylor, Millie Owino, and Heather Radcliff. It was your love, support, encouragement, exceptional care, and the bond he made with each of you that will never be forgotten.

I would also like to thank "At Home Hospice Care" for their support and always being available at a moments notice to help with whatever situation happened.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Bethlehem Cemetery in Disputanta, VA, at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donation to Lewy Body Dementia Association.
