Geraldine Hayter

Geraldine Leigh Hayter, of Chester, VA, died on Tuesday, February 27, 2007. She was born in Sioux Falls, SD, the daughter of the late Edward and Amanda Dau Wespler. Mrs. Hayter was a member of Chester Presbyterian Church, and had worked on several committees. She was also a docent with Maymont House. Geraldine was a past recipient of the Unsung Virginians Award for her volunteer efforts in establishing and maintaining pre-school vision programs. Mrs. Hayter is survived by her husband, Edward J. Hayter; a daughter, Rebecca A. Leigh of Greensboro, NC; two sons, John K. Leigh, III and wife, Nora Hummel, of Glen Ridge, NJ, and James A. Hayter of Columbus, OH; and three grandchildren, John K. Leigh IV, Megan Amanda Leigh, and Edward Charles Leigh. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chester Presbyterian Church, Chester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chester Presbyterian Church at 3424 West Hundred Rd.
