Geraldine (Gerri) Moore Kirkhum, 68, of Chester, VA, died May 14, 2021. Born and raised in Northern VA, she was the daughter of the late Gerald Moore and Mary Jane Wright Moore. She is preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, James Kirkhum; and son, Brian Kirkhum. She is survived by brother, Robert Moore of Warrenton, VA; brother, William Moore of Fairfax, VA; sister, Carla Snee (Spouse Stephen Snee) of Bothell, WA; brother, James Moore of Fairfax, VA; many nieces and nephews; the daughter she never had, Donna Young-White; honorary sister, Carol Butler; spiritual sister, Judith Gilliatt and (16) adopted grandchildren, Allie, Leah, Ava, Emma, Alaina, Mae, Grace, Lucy, Cora, Hazel, Lily, Grant, Jacob, Paul, Aaron and Eliza. Gerri was a very loving person devoted to her family, friends, community and faith at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She retired from a 40-year career as a Supply Systems Analyst w/DLA Aviation Richmond, volunteered for 40 years at Bensley Bermuda Volunteer Rescue Squad & Forest Hill Volunteer Rescue Squad, and was a member of many Quilting, Knitting & Sewing Guilds which was her passion. A funeral service will be held on May 20, 2021 @ 1:00PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 501 Compton Road, Colonial Heights, VA 23834 with a procession following to Sunset Memorial Park at 2901 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
