Gertrude Ruth Stables Pennington

Ruth Stables Pennington, 88, of Dinwiddie County, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015. Born in Wilsons, VA, she was the daughter of the late David Clinton and Fannie Mayton Stables. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, her twin Gracie Lillian S. Wise and Margaret Alice Stables Hawkes, and a brother, David C. Stables, Jr. A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Mrs. Pennington was a former member of St. Marks and a current member of Kenwood. She was a retired employee of the Chesterfield County Public School System. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Aubrey T. Pennington, Sr.; daughter, Paige P. Hannuksela and husband, Glenn of Matoaca; son, A. Tucker Pennington, Jr. and wife, Rebecca of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Gracie Anne Hannuksela, Hannah Ruth Pennington, Glenn Allen Hannuksela, Jr. and wife, Katie, and Aubrianna Kate Pennington, and a great-granddaughter, Savannah Marie Grace. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, at Kenwood United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mary Dadisman officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
