Gertrude Elizabeth Walwer, 83, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015. Born in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late John Grizzard and Lessie Joyner Parsons. She was also preceded in death by her husband Henry G. Walwer. Gertrude was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the founder and co-owner with her husband of Virginia Auto Glass in Petersburg until she retired in 2008. Her most loved possession in life was her children. She is survived by three children, Linda M. Cheatham and her husband, Terry, Kenny G. Walwer, past president of Clover Glass Shop Inc., and his partner, Teresa Hendrix, and David A. Walwer and his wife Debra; four grandchildren, James “Jamie” Hill and his wife, Sajeenuch, Sarah Hill Pauly and her husband, James, Timothy Michael Cheatham, and Lauren M. Walwer; a step-daughter, Joy Koehle and her family; two sisters, Doris Mayes and Sue Heath; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Southalwn Memorial Park.
