Gladys Butler

Gladys Hawkins Butler, 89, of Petersburg passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Henry Benjamin and Bessie Bain Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband James William â??Billâ? Butler; one brother, Robert Gordon Hawkins; and three sisters, Lillian B. Hawkins, Ethelyn H. Taylor, and Edith H. Murrell. Mrs. Butler was a member of Grace Baptist Church, and was retired from Titmus Optical Co. She is survived by her brother, John Edward Hawkins and wife, Pansy of Chester; a son, James Randolph â??Randyâ?? Butler , a daughter, Linda Carol Butler, both of Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, June 9, 2011 in Grace Baptist Church, 23814 River Rd. Petersburg, VA 23803, with Pastor Raleigh Nunnally officiating. Interment will follow at 12 Noon in Washington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Southside Regional Medical Center and the Nurses from Hospice of Virginia for all of their great care. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church.
