Gladys Carter

Gladys Newbill Carter, 84, of Enon, VA and a native of Middlesex County, VA passed away at Southside Regional Hospital in Petersburg, on Thursday, March 1, 2007. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, William â??Billâ? M. Carter, Jr.; a daughter, Cheryl C. Garrett, husband, R.H. â??Dickieâ?, sons: William T. â??Tomâ? Carter, wife Dee and Gary N. Carter, wife Bunny; grandchildren: Lance and Blake Garrett, and Greg and Matt Carter, a brother; Paul Newbill, wife Dot; two sisters; Dot Burcham and Mary Wentz. Gladys was a homemaker who volunteered for the American Red Cross and John Randolph Hospital for 33 years and was an active member of the Bermuda Hundred UMC and Hopewell Womenâ??s Club. A memorial service will be held Friday June 1, 2007 at Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church, 2005 Florence Avenue, Chester, VA 23836 at 3 p.m. with a reception following in the Parrish Hall to greet family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimerâ??s Association, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, VA or the Memorial Fund of Bermuda Hundred UMC.
