Gladys Faris (Poarch) Lesley, 90, of Hopewell, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022. Born July 12, 1931; daughter of the late James Wharton and Clara May Poarch. Preceded in death by first husband, Calvin Allen Faris; and siblings, James Poarch, Ethel Winfield, Hattie Duncan, Christine Hoell, John Poarch, William Poarch, and Barner Poarch.
A longtime member of First United Methodist Church and as of late, Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church. Retired from Firestone with 25+ years of service. After Firestone, worked several years at Walmart in the jewelry department and considered the most brilliant gem within the store.
Dedicated her life to the service of God, family and community. A frequent visitor to the John Randolph Nursing Home to assist with feeding those in need. On Sundays, after church, usually out and about visiting folks who were shut in. Never met a stranger she wouldn't help or ignored the opportunity to help others. Living a simple, humble, and abundant life made her unique!
Survived by her husband Willard Lesley; sons, Ronald Faris (Gretchen), Wendell Faris (Susan); and daughter, Faith Gable (Kevin); grandchildren, Brian Faris (Kelly), Melissa Lamb (Dan), Jonathan Faris (Stephanie), Jeremy Faris (Janell), Kate Ramirez (Fernando), and Ethan Gable; great-grandchildren, Jack Lamb, Nora Lamb, Addison Faris, Emmerson Faris, Peyton Faris, Samantha Faris, Madeline Faris, George Faris, Hazel Faris, Santiago Ramirez; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February, 11th at 1:30 pm; Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 West Broadway Avenue, Hopewell, VA. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be registered at
