Gladys Mayes

Miss Gladys B. Mayes, 90, died Friday, July 7, 2006 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Charlie David Mayes, Sr. and Effie Tatum Mayes. She lived most of her life in Petersburg and Ettrick and was retired from Brown & Williamson after 38 years of service. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete Mayes and Berkley Mayes; four sisters, Cecil M. Floyd, Ruth M. Ogburn, Margaret M. McNamara, and Hazel M. Dickens. She was also preceded in death by her life long friend, Arthur Mac King, She is survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Eden Pines for the love and kindness they showed our aunt. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Sunday, July 9, 2006 from 6 to 7 pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2006 at 11 am in Blandford Cemetery..
