Glenn Israel

Glenn Hallman Israel, 83, of Waverly, died Thursday, September 10, 2009. He was the son of the late John A. and Martha Willa Hallman Israel. Mr. Israel was a member of Jehovahâ??s Witnesses Waverly Kingdom Hall, serving faithfully from 1970 until the present. He served as an Elder and a regular pioneer for many years. He was a faithful and wonderful husband for 43 years and a wonderful father. He loved to be outside and keep himself busy in the yard. He was predeceased by four brothers John Alfred, Beecha Taylor, Gerome Willard and Carlos Kay; and three sisters Flora Pyles, Olga Rowell Young and Mildred Anita Burnette. He is survived by his lovely wife, Betty and son Kevin both of Waverly; granddaughter, Nicole; brother, Dr. George Calvin Israel of Conyers, GA; sister-in-law, Jeanne McKinney Israel; a very special niece, Gloria Hadaway and husband, John; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the Waverly Kingdom Hall of Jehovahâ??s Witnesses. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovahâ??s Witnesses, 442 Coppahaunk Ave., Waverly, VA 23890.
