Gloria Rice Ashby joined our daddy and the Lord on Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Born in Brunswick County, the 8th of 15 children, she was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Branson Rice and Edith Louise Tony Rice, her beloved husband, Gerald Glenn Ashby, Sr. and siblings, Donald, Edith, Daniel, Sue and Linda. She is survived by her children, Debra Marco and husband, David, Mike Lewis and wife, Francis, Donald E. Lewis and wife, Frances, Tracy Sterling Lewis and wife, Paige and Gerald G. Ashby, Jr. and wife, Jennifer; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, James Rice, Wayne Rice and wife, Diane, Henry Rice and Robert Earl Rice and sisters, Margaret Patterson, Joyce Andrews, Rachel Williams, Grace â??Tibbyâ? Crowe and husband, Guy and Peggy Stevens and husband, Dick. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Friday, September 14th from 6 to 8 pm.
