Mrs. Gloria Jolly Bertrand died at age 89 on September 11, 2015 in Augusta, Georgia. She was the daughter of Burnell Wallace Jolly and Vera Gould Jolly of Colonial Heights and Petersburg, Virginia. She was a graduate of Petersburg High School. After completing a BS degree in Education and Psychology at Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia, she served as an elementary school teacher for several years in Texas, Indiana, and Georgia. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, and will be forever loved and remembered for her patience, kindness and wisdom, laughter, warmth and elegance, and especially for her love to her family. She is predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Dr. Anson Rabb Bertrand originally of Coryell County, Texas. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Jolly Howell; daughter Cynthia Bertrand Smith (Michael) residing in Louisville, Kentucky; son, Dr. Styles Leslie Bertrand (Mary Schorsch) of Augusta, Georgia; three grandchildren: Brandon Bertrand Stauffer, Gabriel Anson Smith (Katie), Adam Michael Smith (Allyson); and five great grandchildren. The family is grateful to Ethel Smith of Dearing, Georgia and Jocelyn Hunter of Augusta, Georgia for their loving companionship for her in her home over the past year. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00am Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia.
