Gloria Jean Bombardiere

November 8, 1937 — December 27, 2022

Gloria Jean Bombardiere, 85, of Hopewell, Virginia, died December 27, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Paul Woodrow (Woody) Seaman and Myrtle (Moe) Louise Hott Jones. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandparent, and friend. She will be missed beyond measure.

Gloria was a hairdresser for 55 years and owned "The Hen House Beauty Salon" in Hopewell. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Hopewell. She dearly loved her pastor and church community, going to church, bible study sessions, singing to music during church services, the church picnic, and many other activities and events in the church.

Gloria was an avid reader and always kept her bible within arm's reach and read it every day. She loved to read inspirational faith-based novels, Tomorrow magazine, Women's World magazine, Readers Digest, and health-related books. Her favorite television shows were Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, Trinity Broadcasting Network, NCIS, Westerns, and the local news channels. She loved houseplants, fresh flowers, gardening, being outdoors in hot weather, and especially eating home cooked meals. She had a big heart and would help anyone she could.

But more than anything, Gloria loved spending time with her family, from a simple ride around town to lengthy family trips, to weekly stays with her daughter Penny, or just being at her own home spending time with her son Paul. She always looked forward to her daily phone calls from her devoted sister, Judy.

Gloria loved seeing her friends and spending time with them in many different capacities.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Woody and Mo; stepfather, Raymond Jones; stepmother, Effie Mae Seaman; two sons, John Michael "Mike" Stewart and William "Willy" Bombardiere; a brother, Jim Seaman; and a sister, Joan McKnight.

She is survived by her daughters, Penny Maggio (Tony) of Henrico and Christine Campbell of Sutherland; sons, Paul Stewart of Sutherland and John Nay of Hopewell; two sisters, Judy Kirby Garrison of Maryland and Paula "Polly" Moats (Alfred) of Virginia; two brothers, Gordon "Lucky" Seaman of Maryland and William "Bill" Mayhew (Linda) of West Virginia; and two grandchildren, Rachael Campbell and Brandon Campbell of Florida, as well as great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, Hopewell, with Pastor Phil Andrews officiating. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Liberty Baptist Church in Hopewell. Flowers may be delivered to J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 West Broadway Avenue, Hopewell, VA 23860. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
