Gloria D, Roper

Gloria Ann Day Roper, born February 23, 1932 to the late William Henry and Jessie H. Day passed away December 20, 2010. She was a lifelong resident of Colonial Heights and Petersburg. She graduated from Petersburg High School and attended James Madison University in the 1950â??s when the university was still a small college. She was a member of St. Johnâ??s Episcopal Church in Petersburg, Virginia for over 75 years. Ann was a former member of the Colonial Heights Federated Womenâ??s Club and a dedicated worker for the Petersburg Cosmopolitan Club Diabetic Center. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Willson Bartlett Roper, Jr., daughters, Lee D.W. Whelan of Virginia, Margaret A. Roper Upchurch and husband Cody of Texas, a son, Willson Bartlett Roper III and wife Deborah of Maine. Grandchildren, Cody Lee Upchurch, Jr., Mia Roper Upchurch, and Conner Lee Upchurch of Texas. There will be a graveside service at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia on Wednesday December 29 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Bruce Bevans officiating.
