On Sunday, August 20, 2006 God came to get his angel, Gloria Jean Moody Elder, widow of Barkley J. Elder. Born August 2, 1939 in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late McKinley and Pauline Brooks Moody. She was a retired employee of Seward Luggage Company with 37 years of service. Mrs. Elder was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Moody. She is survived by a daughter, Jean Stamos and husband, Marty of Petersburg; sons, Bud Cole of Petersburg and David B. Elder and wife, Trish of Glen Allen; grandchildren, Eric Stamos, William Stamos, Susan Cole, Greg Elder, Hannah Elder, and Haley Elder; great-grandchildren, Zachary Stamos, Shane Stamos, and Brendon Stamos;; sisters, Loraine Vaughan and husband, Gordon of Claremont and Lillie Rinker of Chesterfield; brother, Joseph Moody; and numerous other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 24, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
