Gloria P. Grigg, 83, of Chester formerly of Colonial Heights, died Saturday, January 31, 2009. She was a native of Petersburg born the daughter of the late Willie T. and Helen W. Peters. Gloria was a member of the Credit Professionals International of Petersburg, Altrusa of Petersburg, sang with the Southern Aires and was the Chaplin of the AARP in Colonial Heights. She was also the Past-president of the Highland United Methodist Church Joy Club of which she is currently Vice-president, a member of the choir at Highland United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Morning Star Sunday School Class and a member of the Eunice Reynolds of the United Methodist Womenâ??s Circles. Gloria is the widow of Horace E. Grigg â??Spankyâ? and is also preceded in death by her son-in-law David L. Lilly; brother L. Gilbert Peters; and her infant twin sisters. She is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia G. Keller and husband Charles, and Kay G. Lilly; five grandchildren, Lenn Cogle and wife Elena, William L. Lilly and wife Mary Kay, Tosha L. Ramkey and husband Scott, Brandi Bridges and husband Joel, and Heather C. Smith and husband Wes; eleven great-grandchildren, Victor, Andrea, Noah, Abigayle, Rachel, Lindsey, Zachary, Lexa, Gabriel, Samuel and Nathanael; a brother Carl D. Peters and wife Joyce; a sister-in-law Gladys T. Peters; and her extended family. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, at Highland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Keith Ritchie, officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
