Gloria St. Clair Matthews, 84, of Dinwiddie County, went to meet her Lord on Tuesday, August 02, 2005 at her residence. Gloria was a native of Bedford County, VA and the widow of Robert ?Frank? Matthews. She was born to the late S. C. B. and Eula White St. Clair on June 28, 1921. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tamara Matthews St. Clair. Gloria was retired with 36 years service from ?The Great A & P Tea Company? as a bookkeeper. She was a longtime active member of West End Baptist Church where she was a member of the L.L.L. Senior Club. She is survived by the following children, Berkley Franklin and wife, Margie S. Matthews and Corey Jason and wife, Julie P. Branzelle; grandchildren, Christopher and wife, Christina Matthews, David, Nicole, Billy, and Brad St. Clair, Austin, Brooke, and Cameron Branzelle; great-grandchildren, Shawn Matthews and Alexa Catsichtis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita S. and Jack Wheeler, Lucille S. and Floyd Caniff all of Bedford, VA, and Jeneva S. Tench of Dinwiddie; many nieces, nephews, and lots of friends. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 4, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with the Rev. Guy Murdock and the Rev. John Crocker officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
