Gloria Dale Torrence

Gloria Dale Torrence 82, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Torrence Jr, beloved sister Shirley Dale Fisher and brother, Ray Dale. She will be dearly missed by her son, Greg Torrence, his wife Lesa and daughters, Arielle and Jordan, and Jordon's son, her great grandchild, Jax. Daughter Karen & her husband, Warren Winterson, also mourn the loss of Mom. Karen's son Elliott will miss "granny" but she lives on in his memories of the time they spent together over the years. A large blended family of 5 children and 6 grandchildren share in honoring Mrs. Torrence. Gloria Torrence enjoyed a long and interesting life. She had a bit of local fame in the early years as Miss Hopewell and as a majorette for Hopewell High School. She loved Hopewell and chose to work in banking here while raising her family. In later life she loved lunching in popular Hopewell eateries (K&L and Shoney’s will miss our mother too) to see old friends and meet new ones over a good meal. An important part of her life involved working in various church ministries, teaching Bible studies. She considered it a great honor to share her spiritual testimony with other women and had served as a leader in Aglow. She took great pleasure in helping others and we believe that donating food in her honor to local food banks in lieu of flowers would be her wishes. We believe she carries with her no regrets about missing this year’s election. Family and friends will celebrate her life at 12-2 pm on Monday November 7, 2016 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Bermuda Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
