Gordon "Bobo" Bohannan

Gordon "Bobo" Wilson Bohannan, 82, of Surry County, Virginia, died at his home "Riverwind," on the James in Surry, Virginia on Saturday, June 4, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Jo Bohannan. Bo was educated in the Petersburg public schools and then attended Christ Church School in Christchurch, Virginia. He then attended Louisburg College and Randolph Macon College, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma and graduated in 1964. He then attended William and Mary, where he graduated with a Master of Education in 1967. Bo spent his career as an educator in Dinwiddie, Chesterfield, and Surry County Public Schools. He was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Surry, where he was a trustee and served several terms on the Vestry. He was also a past president of the Historical Society in Surry County. Bo greatly enjoyed spending time outside; he enjoyed horticulture and particularly appreciated boxwoods, which he planted at his home. He also enjoyed all things baseball, traveling and Broadway musicals. Bo enjoyed a variety of pets throughout his life, but his main passion was his turtles. Bo is survived by his loving wife of 55 ½ years, Hannah Bohannan; sister, Suzanne Bohannan Georgel; niece, Elizabeth Georgel; nephews, Todd Georgel (Radie) and Trip Georgel (Amy); great nieces, Josephine Veserat, Logan Georgel, and Brooke Georgel; and great nephew, Randal Veserat. All services will be private. Memorial contributions in Bo's honor may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, PO Box 298, Surry, VA 23883, Surry County Historical Society, 281 Bank Street, Surry, VA 23883, or to a charity of your choosing.
